What is osFoundry?
osFoundry brings conversations, agents, knowledge, code, custom apps, and everyday productivity into one workspace. Connect local, cloud, or self-hosted models, configure how agents work in osStudio, and build workflows around your own tools and data.
Is osFoundry open source?
Source availability and licensing depend on the component. Check the licence of the specific desktop, SDK, or app repository before using or redistributing its code. Private deployment of the platform is a separate enterprise offering; it is not the same as running a model locally.
Is osFoundry free?
Workspace credit is required to use osFoundry. This requirement also applies when you intend to work entirely on your own machine. Pricing is usage-based rather than per seat. External model providers and other services may bill you separately.
How does usage-based pricing work?
Add workspace credit, then pay the listed rates for the osFoundry resources you use. There is no per-seat pricing. Review the resource rates in the Pricing section before starting a workload. When you bring your own model key, your provider bills that model usage separately.
Can I run models on my own machine?
Yes. The desktop app supports local model workflows on macOS, Windows, and Linux. Which models you can run depends on their format, runtime support, and your available memory and hardware. Using a local model does not make a cloud tool or connected service local.
Can I bring my own API key?
Yes. Connect a supported provider with your own API key and select its models for compatible conversations and agent workflows. Availability depends on the provider, account permissions, and model capabilities. Provider charges are separate from osFoundry workspace credit.
Can agents work together?
Yes. Use agent teams and project message channels for shared work, or compose multi-step execution in Graph. Project channels can bring people and agents into the same conversation, with controls for agent activity and optional run-log sharing.
Can I build and publish apps?
Yes. Custom App includes Room, App Code, Deployed Apps, Snippets, and Domains. Develop an app, manage its code and deployment, and choose how it is shared. Hosted resources and external services are subject to their applicable usage charges.
What works offline?
Supported device-local workflows can run without cloud model calls. Shared workspace features, cloud models, hosted resources, and connected services need internet access. Workspace credit is still required to use osFoundry; offline capability is not a way to bypass activation or access requirements.
Where is my data stored?
Storage depends on the workflow. Device-local conversations and files are stored on your machine; synced workspace data and hosted apps use cloud resources. Sending content to a model provider or connector also involves that service. Ask our team about deployment-specific storage and residency requirements.
Can I deploy osFoundry in my own cloud?
BYO Enterprise is the private-deployment offering for organizations with dedicated requirements. Contact our team to discuss your cloud account or VPC, infrastructure, model capacity, identity integration, and support. This is separate from running local models in the desktop app.
Which enterprise security and compliance options are available?
Enterprise requirements such as SSO, provisioning, audit exports, private networking, KMS integration, data residency, and contractual support should be agreed with our team. Do not assume these are included in a standard workspace. Request the relevant documentation and confirm availability for your deployment.
